We visited Malu'aka Beach on our day of beach hopping in South Maui last April. It was sandwiched between Kama'ole Beach I in the morning and Big Beach later in the day. It was a little difficult to find at first, but once I was able to drop my wife and mom off at the beach and backtrack to the parking lot, it was all good.

I had a blast walking around the beach taking photos, as I always do. Discovering a little hiking area at the far end of the beach and a little picnic/patio area was a good find, too. Not sure how permanent it was, but that heart-shaped rock format had a special feel to it.

The best part of our afternoon there was that while I was out shooting, Cindy and my mom witnessed a whale breach from the shore that they said was large enough that they could feel it when the whale slammed back into the water. That April trip was our first encounter with the whales, and was memorable in its own right. That afternoon was pretty special, too, at least for Cindy and my mom because I missed it. :)
