Live from the Maui Photo Festival
Aloha Maui fans, it’s finally here!
Tonight brings us the opening ceremonies for the first annual Maui Photo Festival and Workshops, and all this week I’ll be bringing you the best of the fest and the island of Maui.
In preparation for the festival, I’ve been out shooting various spots on this gorgeous island, both day and night. You can check out some of the results on the Maui by Photo page on Facebook, as well as photos from my Flickr photostream.
Follow Along
If you’re not out here for the festival (or even if you are), you can still tag along with me by following @MauiByPhoto on Twitter. I’ll be sharing updates from the different excursions and sessions that I’m attending, including a Haleakala sunrise trip and a doors-off helicopter tour on Friday.
It’s going to be an amazing week that you don’t want to miss, and if you love photography on the islands, something you’ll sure to want to see for yourself next year, too.
Talk Story
As always, drop me a line or leave a note if you have any thoughts or comments on the festival. Give me a shout if you’re here and attending, and be sure to say Aloha.
Mahalo,
– Kris
Flickr Group: Road to Hana
Aloha,
There are literaly tons of great photos on Flickr, and over 500,000+ tagged with Maui. I thought it would be fun to feature some of my favorite Maui Flickr Groups to help you relive even more of your Maui vacation memories. Where better to start than the Road to Hana?
Road to Hana Flickr Group
The Road to Hana group on Flickr was one I was invited to help moderate earlier this year. We recently just hit 100 members, which might not seem that big compared to many of the larger groups on Flickr, but it’s still something to be proud of.
At the time of this post, we’re also pushing closer to 500 photos, too. That’s almost 500 of the best photos along the Road to Hana from regular Maui visitors just like you and me. Pretty neat stuff if you ask me.
Join In
Are you on Flickr, too? If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you have a few favorite shots of your own from along the road to Hana. So, why not join our group and share some of your Aloha with us?
More Maui Flickr Groups
If you’d like to read up on more Maui groups on Flickr, be sure to check out our Maui on Flickr page. And don’t forget, you can even add your own photos to the Maui by Photo Group and have them displayed right in our slideshow.
Lastly, if you know of a Maui group on Flickr that isn’t listed on our Maui on Flickr page, feel free to leave a note here or find me on Flickr.
Mahalo and enjoy,
– Kris
Maui Sunset Time Lapse
A little something I shot last year from our lanai at the Sheraton Maui Resort. It consists of 80 photos taken on a timer via my laptop and rendered together with Photoshop. And while photos of sunsets are nice, this little sequence has it’s own special place in my memory.
Let me know what you think, and if you want to see Maui Sunsets in the still photo variety, we have those, too.
Share Your Photos
I’m happy to formally announce yet another great way to interact with Maui by Photo: the Maui by Photo Group on Flickr. By including Flickr along with Twitter, Facebook and your own stories here at the site, reliving your favorite Maui vacation memories couldn’t be easier or more fun.
So if you have your own Maui photos that you want to share with everyone and have a Flickr account, you probably already know how Flickr Groups work. If you’d like to see the photos submitted so far, find other great Maui Flickr groups out there, or just read more about sharing your photos, visit our Maui Flickr page.
